I bought a small vase at the dollar store, added candy corn (who doesnt like candy corn?) and finished with a ribbon! I did another one with a cuter bow...I worked with what I had on hand!

October 3rd crafts

Today we had fun fun fun with white paint! We made hanging ghosts, footprint ghosts, and painted with Halloween sponges. Needless to say the boys are covered in white paint.

Kiddie Olympics

 A few weeks ago we had some friends over for a "Kiddie Olympics" playdate. The kids had a blast with relay races (of course I was finding egg shells for days afterwards), obstacle course, and olympic snacks.

The obstacle course was the highlight of the event. Kids crossed the starting line. jumped from hula hoop to hula hoop, dove into a ball pit, and entered the forbidden castle. In the forbidden castle kids had to find their way through a sea of cooked noodles, and down a slide of shaving cream. Upon survival of the forbidden castle, kids succeeded in crossing the finish line! At the end of the playdate kids were awarded a medal of completion. I found the medals in packs of 4 at the dollar store. Overall, it was a great event!

First Post

Hi! This will be my first Blog post ever! I can't wait to blog more about what kind of shenanigans my kids and I find ourselves in day after day! But first, I think I will start with an introduction...My name is Sarah and I'm currently a Stay-at-home mom of two boys. Anyone who knows me knows my boys mean the world to me! When I'm not with my boys (and usually when I am with them too) I'm taking photographs and editing them. I love hiking, traveling, photography, staying active with my kids, crafty things (DIY), discovering new messy art activities for my kids, relaxing and playing outdoors, and my new love: gardening! I'm addicted to Iced Tea and Caribou Coffee is my favorite place to grab a cup of coffee (whenever I am back in MN).

My boys just turned 2 and 4 years old, and are very active. I am always finding new games and activities to keep them busy. I hope to post some of those activities here on this blog! While the name of this blog is: "This mommy plays", unfortunately playing is not the only thing this mommy does during the day. I can't promise to post every day, or week, but perhaps every month I will post a little blog. I will post activities, recipes, cleaning tips, photography tips, anything I think would make a good post; so stay tuned and "play away the day with me!"
